What is a Collection Care? 

Collections care is the range of activities undertaken to safeguard a collection and enable its continued use.

What does it involve?

These include: policy making, planning and procedures relating to areas such as, for example, security, housekeeping, and environmental monitoring and control.

The activities are tailored for collections on display, in storage and in transit.

What is conservation?

Conservation is the measures and actions aimed at safeguarding tangible cultural heritage while ensuring its accessibility to present and future generations.

What does it involve? 

Conservation embraces preventive conservation which controls the environment to avoid future deterioration, remedial conservation where collections are investigated, stabilized and treated to prevent or halt deterioration, and restoration where the appreciation and understanding is enhanced through repair and reinstatement of loss.

How much does it cost?

Services are charged at a daily rate of £350. Costs, such as travel may be charged separately. Training courses are delivered from £200 for a half-day session.
