 Legacy Conservation offers a range of services tailored specifically to our customers needs.

COLLECTION CARE AND CONSERVATION 

Professional support and guidance for collection care and conservation, including drafting of policies and plans and procedures. Development and delivery of collection condition surveys, specifications for conservation and collections work and business case development. 
Areas include: environmental monitoring and control, disaster planning, pest management, protection and procedures for collections during building works, events and filming.

COLLECTION STORAGE PROJECTS

Planning and management of collections storage projects including storage review, implementation and management of packing, logistics and procurement of storage furniture.
Integration with building planning and development contractors. Oversight, training and management of contractors to ensure collection safety and security. Development of procedural manuals and
full risk management processes for both collections and personnel.

TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Training and small group skills development in all aspects of collection care and conservation.
Courses or one-off seminars, ranging from general principles to bespoke and fully tailored training programmes.
Content design to suit
community and heritage groups, volunteers, curatorial staff and other  museum professionals.
Practical training in areas such as condition assessment, packing and handling, use and interpretation of environmental monitoring data.

Museum Accreditation

The Museum Accreditation Scheme is the UK industry standard for museums and galleries. It includes standards for how collections are managed and cared for. We can provide support for museums as they work towards accreditation or maintain and improve their standards.

Project Management

Infrastructure projects bring challenges for collection safety and  care. Let us  assist with all aspects of support for these major initiatives, providing solutions to even the most complex problems from planning and guidance through to complete project management.
